We have had many visitors to our table - those we have identified are shown below.

So what has been seen in our little patch of England? We have seen Blackbirds, Blue tits, Chaffinch, Collared Doves, Dunnocks, Great Tits, House sparrows, Tree Sparrows, a Greenfinch, Jays, Magpies, Robins, and Wood Pigeons. Not visiting the table but soaring above the Swifts.
We have also had a grey squirrel on the table after the peanuts. The Jays, Doves and Pigeons are all large birds. It is difficult to get more than one of any of these on the table simultaneously. That said the smaller birds rarely go onto the table in large numbers at the same time.
From our unscientific observations we reckon the Magpies are trying to keep any other visitors away but all the birds find times to visit and avoid the black and white bullies.
I have slowly brought the bird table nearer our kitchen window. Now it is clearly visible when I do the washing up.
My favourite sight to date was seeing a line of sparrows waiting their turn on the fence before each taking their turn to feed. It was a morning feeding session in May.
Winner of the cheekiness adward goes to the squirrel which helped itself to peanuts on the table one day. Not what we are after but we left it in peace. It has not been back since. Though we did see it being chased by a cat along the fence top.
This year brings
We were blessed by a visit from a pair of Jays one year but just for the day. And even a family of hedgehogs made it in from the surrounding boggy fields this year (summer 2007).
