Fantasy F1 Rules from 2017

Go to the price list.

Driver and Engine earn points this way:

  1. The top ten finishers: they score points on the same (25, 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1) point system as FIA F1 rules of the season.
  2. Failure to qualify or start race. This is punishment enough no points are deducted or awarded.
  3. Starting and completing a race earns 1 point each for driver and car (note if the driver and engine retire either one or both lose this point as per see below).
  4. As in FIA rules, any fantasy driver recording the fastest lap and earning a top ten finish earns an extra single fantasy point.

Penalties

  1. A stop-go penalty for whatever reason loses the driver and engine no points as it hinders point earning chances anyway.
  2. Drivers and engines score no points for a race if they are removed from the race results.
  3. Any car banned loses all points for driver and engine, unless FIA stipulate something different then as directed by the FIA.

Drivers and Engines Completion points

  1. Determination of whether driver or engine (or both) were at fault for any cars not competing the race is taken from a consensus of the following websites: BBC F1, FIA, and Planet F1.
  2. Retirement due to driving error will lose the driver their completion point. By default any driver involved in an accident loses the completion point. The engines keeps its completion point (unless both are removed from the race results).
  3. Retirement due to engine, mechanical or other car type failure will lose the engine its completion point but not the driver (unless both are removed from the race results).
  4. Unspent money: Any money unspent on your team earns an additional 5 points per £1M not spent. These points are added, pro rata, after each Grand Prix to a maximum limited total of 250 pts.

Championship Rules

  1. The winner is the fantasy team with the most fantasy points. If there is a tie then race points only count in deciding the winner.
  2. Once registered, teams will be eligible to score/lose points at all remaining GP's for that season and teams may not be changed for whatever reason. Half points for races missed.
  3. If a driver retires during the season the replacement's result will be used to calculate their points (as in 1999 season Salo's points would have counted for Michael Schumacher).
  4. If a driver is in disposed to drive in a race their stand-in will have their points scored credited to whoever they are replacing. The fantasy team continues to gain points for the engine as before. (i.e. if Button is hurt and misses a race (or races) again you score points for their original team and from Button's stand-in driver.)
  5. If a driver swaps team during the season the new driver for that seat in the original team scores points for the driver who has moved out the team. The team continues to gain points for the car as before. This maintains consistency with the above judgment. (i.e. if you choose Hulkenburg in Renault car and in middle of season he moves to Ferrari you are stuck with Renault car and its replacement driver).
  6. Fantasy team scores are worked out using the websites mentioned above after each race.
  7. No two fantasy teams are allowed to be exactly the same; so first is accepted and the later choice is rejected and has to change.
  8. The nominal values of drivers, chassis and engines bear little or no relation to real life.
  9. Each team is composed of two drivers, one driver 1 and one driver 2, and one engine chosen from the official shopping list and bought with a (fantasy) total of no more than £100m. You effectively chose a team seat position because of the above rules about replacements and driver moves. Prices reflect the combination of driver and car at the start of the season.
  10. All cancelled races are removed from the season's reckoning in all respects.
  11. All queries regarding rules and scoring should be sent to the judges.
  12. The judges' decision is final.
  13. All entrants must be known to the organiser.
  14. This competition is just for fun.

Note:

In 2023 dropped the extra fantasy points and instead just used FIA points only.
