Two Paleontologists in action

A trip to some of the museums in London is fun.

David and Claire, and the adults, definitely enjoyed his visit to London; first on the agenda was the Natural History Museum. It started with a train journey at 6:51am, a taxi journey and a slight wait in the queue. We did of course visit the usual dinosaur section before going off to the Dino Jaws exhibition- magic!

The animated dinosaurs were good. The Euoplocephalus was my favourite. The noises could have done with being a tad louder but they were all audible. After lunch we moved onto see some rocks and go up the long escalator up through the earth.

The museum is so big you just cannot see all the sections in one day and we stayed as long as we could. We also tried the Earth section and went around front for a bit of a dig.

The Museum Roof.

Our hotel was very close to the British Museum which is currently housing the Egyptian mummies. The cats caught Claire's imagination. I enjoyed the central court and the magnificent new roof. We managed to gird our loins for a quiet step into the Reading Room. Their computers could do with a boost and the mouse wheels needed cleaning but pleasant enough.

I have never been on an open top bus trip around our capital before so this was something new to me, and more so for the kids. Given the great heat, 34oC, the fresh (okay, fresher) air and different view point made for a very pleasant meander through the streets.

Including in the price was a river boat trip. So from the Tower of London we chugged down to the Houses of Parliament. The cruise was enhanced by commentary from one of the crew, a real comedian. We finally got off the Big Bus at Green Park and walked up Piccadilly. Window shopping only I can assure readers. So to the penultimate destination and we delved down into a Rain forest for some hearty grub amongst the animals.

Now, show me to my bed. I need some sleep!

T Rex. Wow!

Somehow the Rex always steals the show. And second time around still a hit.
