Diary of a father of two
Collected here are the ramblings of a father during those few moments of peace in an otherwise hectic and very enjoyable life. I started this after David joined us but it now goes back into the last century too.
The Twenty fourth year of the diary and set to be a year of significant change. It could be change for the many but bound to be for a few at least.
The Twenty third year of the diary and another year of the unusual? We have hopes and plans, less so dreams. Undoubtedly there will be change and joy, and sorrow - that's life.
The Twenty second year of the diary and year three of COVID dawns. Is there any sign of hope and some travel? Yes, we get to see new parts of this great country. And the colds/flu are back with avengence - urgh.
The Twenty first year of the diary and who knows waht? There is hope and some more working from home.
The Twentieth year of the diary and A-Levels loom for one, more study for another. Hopefully a couple of new grounds and maybe some joy for others too? Or just COVID experiences.
The Nineteenth year of the diary and, again, stuff to do.
The Eighteenth year of the diary and much to do. Four is so much more.
The Seventeenth year of the diary and much to do. I like a small challenge.
The Sixteenth year of the diary and the rain just keeps on. Enough already.
The Fifteenth year of the diary and it goes on.
The Fourteenth year of the diary and we hope (again) for a drier year.
The Thirteenth year of the diary and we hope for a drier year.
The Twelveth year of the diary and we get yet serious wind. So will the Olympics impinge on our lives or maybe enlighten them with joy? Whatever happens in the world wide we will continue to be family focused. We did enjoy a few Olympic moments too!
The eleventh year of the diary and we get yet more serious snow! Someone notches up the half ton quietly. We buy ourselves a fireplace.
The tenth year and we have new local places to explore and enjoy! And the place already has more on offer, more locally!
The nineth year and winter is cold. The kids grow up while we continue along our rich (culturally not financially) and varied path. A year of major change - in location!
The eighth year and the weather is mad. So through the wind and the rain we battle on. Will we get any summer this year?
The seventh year and the weather continues to go nuts! Wind, rain, and frost. Mostly wind, wind and more wind.
The sixth year and the weather goes nuts! Snow, wind, rain, and hot spells in a very short space of time (spring). The grass, of course, is loving it so the back garden looks like a meadow, including the thistles and wild flowers! Until the heat fails to give way and it turns brown.
The fifth year and school change for one and will change for the little one all too soon. Of the major steps for adulthood one is now pedalling while the other catches a bus to get to school. The parents just get older and get more and more jealous of their boundless energy.
The fourth year and David's movement is far too dynamic for his parents, and he has run into doors, walls, fences, you name it! Claire will move on to a new school later in the year. The joy of a child that can now tell fibs and argue his case is unimaginable! What else will this year bring we ask for us all? Loving it.
The third year and David's movement is very dynamic and multi-dimensional. Claire moves on and her swimming is great. The joy of a child that can answer back and argue his case is unimaginable! What next we ask? And we are answered by a great noise I think. I just hope I have the time to keep up my limited efforts to share the fun.
The second year and the little one is walking. He has the bruises to prove it. This year is one of great advances, walking, talking but not chewing gum just big bread sticks! Claire is coping well with her new school and progressing.
The first year of the diary and the very early weeks of his life when the mist was still rising. The special thrill of sleep deprivation and round the clock feeds, and those nappies from hell. Meanwhile Claire is becoming a fantastic girl. Isn't he lovely and so like his sister at the same age.
The year zero for the diary and I am writing backwards now. The years before D and E. A new house and some decorating to do.
The 1999 of the diary. I move across town and visit Silverstone.
A new job, some serious house repairs (okay just a celiing to patch) and then moving.
The 1998 diary. Steam trains by the Lakes, visit to the many joys of LegoLand and much more.
The 1997 diary. Learning to read with Dr Seuss, bouncing on beds and cycling along the valley byways.
Don't you just love them?
