Week 13

Smiles are now beginning to be a regular thing and he seems to be recognizing his parents at least. He still cries but it is easier to work out why.

His feeds are mostly every three hours but occasionally he goes longer and on the odd time it is only a couple of hours. The frequency of the four or five hour long stints of sleep in the night are getting more frequent.

Week 12

Close to the magic three months but still really in the initial blur period. We mostly get a reasonable night's sleep but occasionally its more interrupted than normal. The smile has become a possibility and when one arrives it nearly makes up for everything else - brilliant!

Week 11

Poor little devil has a sore throat. His new weight is 11lb 13oz and he is back on the magic graph line for his length! This weekend we welcome visitors from Scotland - Nannette, Stuart and Fiona!

Week 10

Bad colic this week. His weight is up to 10lb 13oz by Tuesday. That cot is being used by David now. We have had to bring a bed into his room to aid the early morning feeds and minimize sleep loss to the adults.

Week 9

Mother and son's first time at baby massage. Sees his Great-Grandad for the first time. He is getting more wakeful. He has shown some interest in his reflection in the mirror. And maybe the cot will get used.

Week 8

Its a still much of a blur! Threat of redundancy at work still looming. He's up to 10lb. The prospect of Christmas looms on the horizon - ah!  Not ready for the holidays but we have decided our plans.

Week 7

Okay, back to late start and late finish at work to get some sleep. David is looking pink and bouncy - still no pattern to his feeding or sleeping! - exasperating!

Week 6

He's taking to the bottle as well as Mother's milk and trying to catch up weight-wise. Stopped looking jaundiced and starting to have a bit of a well fed look about him!

Week 5 - November

Struggling to get up at 6:30am for work, more like 7am. Motorways are bad. And the clocks have gone back - it's mad. I begin to wonder what day it is and why do people do this?

October »Nov.

Week 4

Back to work. Even less sleep now. Prospect of a few days peace working in Newport - didn't happen. The bottles arrive to make sure he starts putting weight on.

Week 3

Okay there is some vision but mostly blur. Fewer visitors. Some sleep, some peace but not enough of either! He's not putting on the weight he should. Some concern from health visitor, hospital nurses stopped calling around though.

Week 2

The visitors still arriving in droves. Still blurred. More cards and presents - wow. The nappies - wow wee! The crying - eek! The faces - very funny! The joy - boundless!

Week 1

Its a blur! Monday I got home about midday and attempted to sleep in front of the football - failed. Rest of week in severe shell shock, as is the house when both mother and son return. He's great. Numerous visitors and lots of presents - thanks everyone! And the cards too, brilliant! Thanks again.
